You’ve been thinking about it for a while now. You don’t want to go through with it, but you believe it’s the only answer. Your former self would never choose this path, but life is different now. You can’t live like this anymore. You can’t go on pretending. You want out. It’s the only way.

Death voluntarily, won’t end the pain. You will simply pass it on—to your mother and father, your sister, your brother, your children, your boss and your mother’s best friend, even the man who greets you every other Sunday. No one will see it coming. Still it has to be done. It’s the only way.

Your soul is sinking in shame; grief has overcome you. Hope was stolen by sorrow while despair follows closely behind. Choose to step into the light of life. You have been redeemed. My love will never let you go. If only you knew how much you are loved. I am unworthy to redeem. I can’t hold on. It’s the only way.

The lies planted in your heart have traveled to your mind. You’ve lost sight of who you are, disappointed in what you’ve become. There is evil from the world within, making broken promises to end this pain. Darkness shields the light of life. His work is almost done. No, I am done. This is my choice. It’s the only way.

I was sent by the Father to save and redeem. I am the great I am–the Holy One of Israel. I have come so you may have life. I am the only one takes away the pain. Come to me and I will give you rest. I am the way, the truth and the life. Let me guide you out of darkness and into the light. It’s the only way.

*Today is National Suicide Prevention Day. I wrote this post as a message of hope. Please share.

John 14:16-Jesus answered, “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
